The hands that sew

Cristóbal
Balenciaga
Museoa

( 1917 - 1968 )

The Balenciaga House created fashion in Spain and in France between 1917 and 1968. At its closure after more than half a century of continuous activity, the House employed over 2,000 people between dressmakers, apprentices, qualified seamstresses and tailors, ironers, house models and vendeuses. Their hands produced the perfectly finished and always elegant creations to be found in the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum today; their stories must therefore be told and given the place they deserve alongside the name of Cristóbal Balenciaga.
